Republican John Raymond ran for election to the Louisiana House of Representatives to represent District 104. He lost in the primary on October 14, 2023. In 2018, he ran for the Louisiana House of Representatives to represent District 90.

Even after he was charged with four counts of criminal cruelty to juveniles, Louisiana's Republican Party endorsed Raymond for the state House seat.

He has also been a member of the St. Tammany Republican Parish Executive Committee and the St. Tammany Republican Men's Club.
