Albenita Rene Rael, the former Republican candidate for Quay County treasurer and former deputy treasurer, was charged with two felonies and jailed after being accused of altering county records so a property she owned wouldn't be placed in a state delinquent-tax list.

A no-bond arrest warrant was issued shortly after she was charged with tampering with public records and fraud. She was booked into the Quay County Detention Center that same day.

Both charges are fourth-degree felonies that can lead up to 18 months in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.

Abby Lundy, a Republican councilwoman in New Jersey, was arrested in Connecticut on August 22, 2024, for crimes allegedly committed on July 9, in connection with an embezzlement scheme involving a nonprofit children's organization.

Lundy turned herself in to police in New Canaan, Connecticut. She has been charged with larceny and forgery.

Lundy resigned after her arrest. She had served as a Republican borough councilwoman since she was first elected in 2016.

Dean Allen Wallowing Bull, 45, of Crow Agency, arraigned on charges of sexual abuse and attempted sexual abuse. If convicted of the most serious crime, Wallowing Bull faces life in prison, a $250,000 fine and at least five years of supervised release. Wallowing Bull was detained pending further proceedings. A Columbus man who served as a campaign treasurer for more than 100 candidates since the 1980s has been charged with wire fraud related to stealing nearly $1 million in campaign funds.

William Curlis, 76, was charged by a bill of information that was filed today. The United States also filed a plea document in this case today, which will be considered by the Court at a future plea hearing.

According to the court documents, from 2008 until June 2023, Curlis defrauded candidates of approximately $995,231 of campaign funds.

Jennifer Krouse and Tricia Jackson, two county commissioners in Jefferson County, West Virginia, are facing dozens of criminal charges, including conspiracy.

Krouse and Jackson were arraigned on March 12, 2024, in Jefferson County Magistrate Court on 42 misdemeanor charges ranging from failure to perform official duties to conspiracy to commit a crime against the state.

Jackson is also a Republican candidate for state auditor.

Bail for each woman was set at $42,000 cash.

Alex Zdan, a New Jersey Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, was arrested in August 2020 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident, according to police reports that came to light on March 11, 2024.

Alex Zdan was driving his his pickup in Hopewell, NJ, when he crossed the center lane and swiped another vehicle, damaging a mirror and the driver’s side of the vehicle, according to police report details published by Politico New Jersey.

Matthew Conlon has been charged with criminal sexual contact after allegedly touching someone's genitals during a party. He could face up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison for the sexual contact offense and 30 days in county jail for harassment, if found guilty.

A grand jury indicted State Rep. Bob Young (R-Green) on two misdemeanor charges stemming from an alleged assault on two family members earlier this month. Young is charged with one count of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor and one count of assault, also a first-degree misdemeanor, according to the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office.
