Sheriff Jamey Noel sentenced to 15 years in prison

Former Sheriff Jamey Noel, a notable figure in the state Republican party, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after entering a plea deal in a corruption, theft, and fraud case.

Noel pleaded guilty to over 25 felony counts, including theft, tax evasion, official misconduct, and money laundering.

The judge also ordered Noel to pay over $3 million in restitution to local first responder groups.

Nicole Torres indicted for bribery, extortion, fraud, and identity theft

Nicole Torres, who has represented the Republican party for the 81st Assembly district in the northwest section of the borough since 2019, is accused of using her job at the city Board of Elections to scam potential employees and cash fraudulent paychecks.

According to court documents, the alleged illegal conduct took place over a five-year period.
